Worldwide Orchids was founded in 1991 with the purpose of making orchids available to the millions of people that had never grown one before. The company set out to breed the easiest orchids to grow and ship, and to provide the highest level of support ever found in the industry. In 1995 the company hired Ron Hausermann as its new grower, and the legend of "Grower Ron" was born. Through Grower Ron, Worldwide seeks to remove the fear that has always accompanied a first orchid purchase by showing that with a few simple tips and practices, anyone can grow and bloom beautiful orchids. In 2001 KSO Wholesale Orchids merged with Worldwide Orchids giving Worldwide a total of 3 growing locations. Worldwide Orchids is based in Central Florida, and grows orchid plants exclusively in approximately a quarter million square feet of greenhouses. Worldwide Orchids markets to the wholesale trade only, and does not sell directly to the public. The company's plants can be easily identified by the "Grower Ron's Orchids Made Easy" pamphlet attached to each plant which includes lots of care information as well as information about the company's Grower Ron's Gro-Tips Helpline which provides toll free automated growing information 24 hours a day.
