step 4 - trim the roots to fit the new potclick on the thumbnail to enlarge

Now measure the depth of the pot and trim down the roots of the plant so it will have a comfortable fit in the new pot.  Make sure you sterilize your cutting tool before cutting another plant.  One good way to sterilize is dipping the tool into a solution of 10% bleach.
