Now clean the roots of old media. This is a good time to examine your orchids root system. Are there lots of roots? Are the roots firm and white? If not, it could be a sign of problems. If the roots are brown and/or decaying, the plant might be being over watered, or the media may have broken down (in that case its a good thing you are repotting!). It is ok if there are a few old brown roots mixed in among healthy ones. Take this time to remove the decaying roots before continuing. |
